Dr Robyn Rowland AO will present and host local, national and international visiting poets in this series. The reading and discussion will involve dialogue with the audience. Robyn was Deputy Chair of the Foundation Board of the Australian Poetry Centre and has established and curated the Poetry Salons at Glenfern, Melbourne. She has been a published poet for 40 years and her latest book is Season of doubt & burning, New and Selected Poems from Five Islands Press. Alex Skovron was born in Poland, lived briefly in Israel, and emigrated to Australia in 1958, aged nearly ten. His family settled in Sydney, where he grew up and completed his studies. Skovron's poetry has been published widely and read on radio. His books are The Rearrangement (1988), Sleeve Notes (1992), Infinite City (1999), The Man and the Map (2003); and, most recently, Autographs (2008), a volume of prose-poems. He has twice been a recipient of an Australia Council writer's grant (1994 and 2004). He has also published a prose novella, The Poet (2005), which was joint winner (with Kate Grenville) of the FAW Christina Stead Award for a work of fiction. Catherine Bateson's work has been read on radio and featured on television. Her first published novel was Painted Love Letters, a portrait of a family coping with death. She has published three volumes of poetry, and three verse novels for young adults using a variety of poetic forms including haiku, free verse, free renga and acrostic. Catherine is an award ...
